Michaella McCollum Connolly could plead guilty

first_imgMORE THAN £2,600 has been raised by a fund set up by Michaella McCollum Connolly’s sister.Stephanie Connolly is aiming to raise £10,000 via Youcaring.com for her sister, who is in a Peruvian jail after being found with 11kg cocaine inside food packets in her luggage.Earlier this month the goal was to raise £20,000 and the effort had received just £700 in pledges.It was reported yesterday that Melissa Reid, McCollum Connolly’s co-accused, was to plead guilty in order to get a shorter sentence.The Belfast Telegraph says that if the women plead guilty, they could strike a deal that would see their sentence cut from 25 years to six years and eight months.The Irish Independent reports today that McCollum Connolly is considering following her lead and also pleading guilty.The young women will give a statement on September 24 and are said to be in a new prison.Read: Web effort to help Irish woman arrested in Peru raises just over £700>Read: Michaella co-accused to plead guilty – reports>last_img read more
